How can Birth Companion support you?

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I time contractions?

Open the Timer tab and tap anywhere on the large circular wave indicator when a contraction starts. Tap again when it subsides. The app automatically calculates duration, interval since the previous wave, and allows you to rate intensity.

Where is my wave log stored?

Your contraction sessions are stored strictly on your device using Apple SwiftData. No account or email registration is required, protecting your intimate maternal data.

How can I share my log with my midwife?

In the Log tab, tap Export Log. You can generate a beautifully formatted PDF report or CSV table to share via AirDrop, Messages, or email directly with your midwife or care team.

How does Voice Support work?

When enabled in Settings or the Support tab, Birth Companion provides gentle vocal pacing, rhythmic breathing cues, and reassuring affirmations to keep you grounded during each active contraction.

Can I play Calm Sounds in the background?

Yes. In Settings → Calm Sounds, choose from ocean waves, gentle rain, forest ambience, or soothing hums. You can configure sounds to play continuously, only during active waves, or in the pauses between waves.

Does it work with Apple Watch & Live Activities?

Yes. You can start and stop wave timing directly from your Apple Watch companion app, or glance at your current contraction interval on the iPhone Lock Screen via Live Activities without bright screen disruption.

Free Contractions & Premium Experience

Birth Companion gives every expectant mother 10 free completed contractions with full timing metrics, personal logging, and safety tools. To unlock unlimited wave tracking, full AI voice guidance, extended soundscapes, and comprehensive PDF report exports, you can upgrade to Birth Companion Premium.

Restoring Purchases: If you reinstall the app or change iOS devices, open Settings → Premium and tap Restore Purchases. Your subscription will reactivate automatically using your Apple ID.

Manage or cancel your subscription

All Birth Companion subscriptions are processed and managed securely by Apple through your Apple ID account.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Tap your Name / Apple ID profile at the very top.
  3. Tap Subscriptions.
  4. Select Birth Companion to review your plan, switch tiers, or cancel auto-renewal.
Deleting the Birth Companion app from your device does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription.

Refund requests & billing inquiries

Because all transactions are processed through the Apple App Store, developers cannot issue direct refunds. Apple handles all billing disputes, chargebacks, and refund requests directly.

To request a refund, please visit Apple's official portal at reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find your Birth Companion purchase, and choose "Request a refund."

Clearing personal data

If you wish to delete your contraction logs, open Birth Companion and navigate to Settings → Privacy & Legal → Clear Personal Log. This permanently removes all recorded waves and notes from your device.
